Claude Platform on AWS

Claude Platform on AWS is Anthropic's offering that brings the Claude API to Anthropic-managed infrastructure accessible through Amazon Web Services. It allows organizations to use Claude's full API capabilities — including the Messages API, Files API, Message Batches API, Claude Managed Agents, Agent Skills, code execution, and tool use — while authenticating via AWS IAM, receiving a unified AWS bill, and applying existing AWS spend commitments toward Claude usage. Unlike Amazon Bedrock, which hosts Claude models on AWS infrastructure managed by AWS, Claude Platform on AWS runs on Anthropic-managed infrastructure but is surfaced within the AWS billing and identity layer. This means developers use standard Anthropic model IDs (e.g., claude-opus-4-5) rather than Bedrock-style ARN or regional model IDs, and model lifecycle follows Anthropic's deprecation schedule rather than Bedrock's. As of the research date (May 2026), Claude Platform on AWS was announced on April 21, 2026, and is in early access by request. Public self-serve availability has not been announced. Organizations with existing AWS private offers or enterprise discount agreements should contact their Anthropic or AWS account representative before onboarding to ensure discounts are applied correctly, as they cannot be applied retroactively.
